Huntsville Stars Hit a HomeRun for NICU Families

This Father's Day, our local AA Minor League Baseball team, The Huntsville Stars hit a Home Run for NICU Families. As a former NICU parent, I know what its like to spend a holiday in the Neonatal Intensive Care Here are a few pictures as well as a News Clip From WAFF on this heart-warming event.

As the NICU Family Support Specialist, I try to make the experience of having a baby in our unit more enjoyable~ Through one on one interaction and NICU Weekly Parent Hours, our families have the opportunity to meet others walking in similar shoes. The March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program is touching the lives of so many families throughout the country during one of the most difficult life experiences, having a NICU baby.

On Thursday, The Huntsville Stars came to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to visit. Every baby received 3 "Special Gifts" for Father's Day:
* A signed baseball with the baby's footprint.
* A Family 4-pack of tickets to any 2012 Huntsville Stars Baseball game
* Huntsville Stars Newborn Baseball Hat

Thanks to the Huntsville Stars, this will be a Father's Day that dads will treasure for a lifetime! After the visit, we enjoyed "Dads & Dogs" lunch. Thanks to Publix for the delicious hot dogs, chips and drinks!  In addition, we had
tasty cupcakes decorated like baseballs! In addition, thanks to the Melissa George Neonatal Meorial Fund for all your generous support! Yum~
Finally, this event would not have been possible without the continued support, encouragement and assistance from staff~
