As you all know, I have tried so many ways of organizing my coupons over the past 2 years.
I have finally found a METHOD that I am going to love!
I have been doing a smaller version of this, but am NOW PREPARED to do it all this way!
Above you will see the box that hosts 90% of my coupons!
This box has hanging file folders that are labeled with the insert date and name!
For example, the Red Folders are for Red Plum and then they have the insert date on them.
Most times with ad match ups, I am able to just pull the inserts and cut the coupons when I need them! I was so tired of spending SO MUCH time cutting and organizing coupons~
With getting 15-20 inserts a week, I do not have time to cut every coupon!
I do not regret ever using a coupon binder as it was a great tool to get me started. For those of you that swear by the binder system, GREAT!
I truly encourage you to do whatever works for you!
Everyone of us is different and that is why we work so well as a team!
Looking to get a binder, be sure to check out the Coupon Clutch system that I used for over a year~
Any loose coupons that I get from FREEBIES or in the Mail, etc, will be filed in my coupon clutch so that I do not misplace them!
I am anxious to hear your feedback on my new coupon organizing system!
Very nice but what if u go to the store and see an advertised sale and u know u have a coupon? Another trip? I would love to do the same but not sure if it would work for me but I am new to using coupons so I am still working on my system. Binder is working good BUT I do find it getting full with coupons I don't use but feel guilty to throw them out....lol. I do however set ones aside that I know I won't use and I'm going to give them to the library or maybe an assisted living community. Thanks for sharing your system and maybe I will graduate to that one day. Happy couponing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, i am new to doing coupons and have to admit I am feeling overwhelmed with it all. Hopefully I can take some pointers from you :)
ReplyDeleteI have seen several ppl do this my only question is how do you know what coupons you have? with my binder i flip through according to aisle im in and can see what i have for that aisle. with this system they aren't organized by what they are just when they came so i wouldn't know where to look for specific things only specific inserts...am i making any sense. I really have been looking into this system but no one has explained how they know what coupons they have do you have memorized all the coupons you have and what insert they came in?
ReplyDeleteThis is what I do as well...got it from the wizard lol but my only problem I am having is when I hit clearance aisles I can't take advantage because I don't have all my inserts with me and honestly have no clue where to go to get the coupon unless I go online. So I have to make another trip and by the time I come back it's gone (probably by someone who had the binder).
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new to couponing, but it only took me a couple months to switch to the insert method instead. I have a tendency to carry my coupons in the car unless I am working on them. So if I know I have a coupon, then I send one of my kids or the hubby out for them. I have also found it useful to print out what each weeks inserts have in them and keep the list in my binder.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing something similar, with expandable folders & like it so much more! I do miss an odd clearance sale here & there BUT I have 2 chronic pain conditions, so saving all that cutting & sorting is such a blessing for me!!
ReplyDeletelove it
Good idea for your couponing. I usually only get 1 paper a week and printables (and mailed occasionally), so I don't feel I need anything extravagant. I just use a small accordion file, but I do feel I need a slightly larger one and I'll be good! LOL I do, however, keep all my loose and unfiled coupons in a plastic shoe storage box to at least keep them all in the same place until I have the time to file them. Then when I plan trips, I just take them out of the accordion file and slip them into envelopes with the store names. Works well for me, since I am not overloaded with coups. <3
ReplyDeleteI use something similar but on a much smaller scale. I use an plastic recipe box with tab dividers and have them broken into 25 different categories. I just started this method a few weeks ago and I love it so far. Much better than the folder system I used before. Now I can keep it in my purse all the time which has come in handy a few times already.
ReplyDeleteI use this exact system and didn't know you used it also! This system is very easy to use for me due to the fact I have to small children (2 yrs and 7 months) and therefore my couponing is on their time schedule!
ReplyDeleteFor those who like this method of filing but do not need a system as big as the one pictured, you can purchase full size pockets that go in binders. Buy a bigger zippered binder and some colored side loading pockets. Some have tabs on them and others have a flip over closure. If there are no tabs you can buy them to attach. For the single coupons use the 6, 9 or 12 pocket sheets in front of the big pockets. Know this can be expensive to put together but start looking for the supplies now and then watch for the back to school sales. And don't forget to have clipper or scissors in the binder.
ReplyDeleteI have put in some 8.5 x 11 top load sheet protectors (3 hole punched - like these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Avery-Heavyweight-Poly-Sheet-Protectors-Non-Glare-Box-of-100/14931985) in my binder and store the whole inserts in my binder so I have them with me when shopping. I have a sheet protector for each type (Red Plum, Smart Source and P&G) and each date and only have 2-6 inserts for each week. I typically do cut and file the coupons I think I will use in the 9 pocket baseball trading card pockets and then just put the remaining insert in the sheet protector pocket. That way I have my inserts with me if I need them but I haven't spent the time to cut coupons I may not use. I have an iPhone so I can go to the online coupon databases and see if there is a coupon available and then just cut it out while in the store.
ReplyDeleteI always make a printable list of the coupons that come in my paper and have it handy at the store! I do not like taking my binder in all the time! So what I do is make a list of what coupons I have, and how many and then leave my book in the car! If I need it, I know I can always run out and get it! I am slowly but surely doing away with my binder, I love this system better! And I can always put this in my car just as I would my binder when I go to the store! Better than making an extra trip!
ReplyDeleteWow! Too extravagant for me. Glad it works for you. Me and my paper accordion file work just fine. This seems like too much work to me. But then my way of doing things probably seems like a lot of work to others. wish I knew someone locally who used a system like this so I could see it in action. Maybe it might work for me. I'm a visual person and need to see it in action to fully understand. Always open to new ideas.
